Good point well made! I remember a colleague of mine writing a sample on-hold marketing script for an industrial lubricants company. The MD of the company in question was straight as a die, bullish, no-nonsense chap.
The script he got was a Carry On-esque piece, full of wit, charm and innuendo. He claimed it was unprofessional, threw his dummy out of the pram and didn’t sign the contract.
Goes to show, you can write something fantastic – but if it isn’t pitched right, you’re doomed.
